Think: a 5-day summer camp!
Kids tend to have limitless energy levels. Sometimes, this means keeping them entertained can be quite the challenge.
Luckily, there’s no shortage of fun summer activities in Austin! In this article, we’ll review 10 of those activities for any Austin kids bouncing off the walls this summer.
#1 – Sports Movement Summer Camp
We might be a little biased, but what if we told you that Sports Movement can keep your children entertained for 5 whole days?
It’s true: simply sign up for one of our summer camps to get started. With a variety of dates to choose from, you can work with your flexible summer schedule to plan out a morning or afternoon off while the kids enjoy the sun.
For example, our 5 Day Cricket Summer Camp is a great way to get your child active and interested in “the gentleman’s game.” The camp is open to all children ages 5 – 10.
For kids aged 5 – 7, we have our 5 Day Soccer Summer Camp. Just like with cricket camp, Sports Movement will take care of all the equipment, training, and supervision.
Not only will your child thank you for the great summer fun, but you, as the parent, will have a chance to focus on other priorities… like, say, relaxing?
#2 – Summer Fun at Austin Zoo
The Austin Zoo was opened in 1990 with a mission to rescue and rehabilitate animals. As such, they offer a variety of fun learning activities designed to educate kids on the different animals and their new lives.
They also have summer camps! There’s a new one every week, but age groups vary.
#3 – Children’s Summer Activities at Austin Aquarium
Sometimes it’s necessary to get out of the summer heat. If you want to keep up with the theme of fun, educational summer activities in Austin, why not give the Austin Aquarium a visit?
The aquarium has a lot of great events, like Morning Rounds, Animal Encounters, and even Birthday Parties!
#4 – Summer Fun at Austin’s Big Stacy Park and Pool
Big Stacy Pool is a great place to take your kids. It’s right in the middle of the Stacy Park, so there’s plenty of space for them to run around and burn off some energy.
And if that’s not enough to convince you, there are also lots of sports activities to keep the whole family fit and healthy while having fun.
#5 – Vic Mathias Shores Dog Park
Even if you don’t have a dog of your own, your kids will have a blast running around Vic Mathias Shores Dog Park. Plus, if they get covered in doggy slobber, it’s just a short walk to the Butler Park splash pad.
#6 – Children’s Summer Activities at the Austin Nature & Science Center
The Austin Nature and Science Center has been around since 1960, so they have plenty of experience keeping kids entertained during the long summer months!
For example, there are plenty of indoor and outdoor activities for kids, as well as a summer camp.
#7 – Zilker Park

#9 – Red Bud Isle
Even though Red Bud Isle is primarily a leash free area for dogs, it’s also a great place for kids to run around. There are also plenty of smaller hiking trails, plus the big main one. Red Bud Isle shares their events calendar with Pease District Park.
#10 – Summer Fun at the Altitude Trampoline Park Austin
If you’ve already been to the aquarium and are running out of ideas for fun kids’ summer activities that are out of the hot Texan sun, then the Altitude Trampoline Park is a great alternative!
The trampoline park deserves its own list of 10 high energy activities. Your kids can play dodgeball, battle beam, and even trampoline basketball. As a result, they’re sure to be tuckered out by the end of the day!

That’s a good idea to take the kids to a zoo. I would think they would enjoy seeing all the animals. I’ll have to consider going to one that would have a way for the kids to hold some animals since my kids would probably love that.
